When disaster strikes there will be mass casualties and limited resources. The medical challenge in such a situation is rivaled only by the ethical challenge of deciding who gets help and who does not. This talk looks at the moral issues in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and other real-life examples of triage, which is the process of determining the priority of patients’ treatments.
